Italy

Are you ready to enjoy la dolce vita? Italy is a one of the best family vacation destinations, truly offering something for everyone! From rich culture and history, to fantastic food and exciting activities, you will come away with unforgettable family memories. Italy has some of the world’s most famous sites and is an integral part of everyone’s global education. Imagine your family or friends standing in front of the Trevi Fountain, hiking through the charming villages of Cinque Terre, or enjoying the warm sunshine and spectacular views along the Amalfi coast! Whichever gorgeous region of Italy you choose to visit, the magic is enjoying each place…. spending time in the piazzas, and wandering the village streets at your own pace.

Transportation, a variety of activities, and carefully picked accommodations are key to a well paced, and unforgettable trip. We recommend you maximize what you can see by traveling in 1 direction; fly into one city and home from another. While this used to be price prohibitive, you can now find very competitive fares. Also, many times booking private transfers will cost only 10%-20% more, however could save you hours of your precious vacation (replacing waits in airports or train stations). Rather than rushing from one iconic sight to another, we recommend choosing the top 2 or 3 in each place, and planning morning sightseeing with afternoon free time (or pool time!). Italy is also rich with “hands on” activities – how about Pizza making in Rome? or Carnival mask making in Venice? Where you stay is also critical to the overall success of your trip. In addition to picking the “right” location and amenities, we also recommend at least 2-3 nights for each stay to give time to settle in and really explore the area.

If you are on a tighter budget, there are ways to keep a trip to Italy more affordable. Traveling in the off season or shoulder season can result in significant savings (up 30%-50% less). Visiting more “off the beaten path” cities and villages in Italy can also save you money. Sicily and Puglia are gorgeous regions to explore with much lower daily costs. Staying in smaller, more “authentic” accommodations will also save you money. While they may not have all the amenities of the bigger hotels, you will be comfortable, well located and can still find options under 100 euro.

Is Italy on your bucket list? With good reason… from the spectacular cities, to the ancient ruins, fascinating museums, gorgeous beaches and natural scenery… it meets everyone’s idea of a great vacation spot. Oh, and did we mention the food??
