Travel Planning

Want to get away, but not sure where to start? If you can come up with some answers to the questions below, you’re already well on your way!

  1. First, WHO’s going?

Will you be traveling alone, with just 1 other person or 15? Will there be youngsters and what ages? Are there any special needs or dietary restrictions? Answers to these questions may impact choice of destination, hotels, and activities. We’ve worked with all sorts of ‘families’, budgets, and travel requests. Whether there’s 2 of you or 20+ of you, we can hand-craft an adventure to perfectly fit your group.

  2. Next, WHERE to go?

Are you looking for Adventure? Relaxation? Sightseeing? Thinking about what you envision doing each day can help narrow this down, and this will factor into deciding which destination is best for you, too.

What type of destination do you prefer? City/Sightseeing? Beach? Resort? Cruise? Historic places? Mountains? While many times it's easier to jump right to a destination, it's valuable to think first about your goals for this trip and which type of destination is the best fit.

  3. Consider WHAT you’d like to spend.

Do you have a set budget for this vacation? It's important to think about what you are comfortable spending. Family vacations to Europe for example may average $300-$600 per person per day. Many times an “expensive destination” can fit even a smaller budget if planned carefully (shoulder season, moderate accommodations, etc). As difficult as it is sometimes, it's important to get clear about this from the start of your planning.

  4. The really fun part…

Once you’ve narrowed down the type of vacation, type of destination, and budget, you can brainstorm the places that fit. If children are old enough, assign them to do some research and then plan a family “brainstorming” session. Do you have very specific dates or time constraints (school vacation) or are you flexible about when you can go? This will be an important factor to also consider as you choose the destination (weather, cost, and activities available).

We love helping families decide where to go, when to go, and how to go. The planning phase can be FUN! Our goal is to keep the decision simple for you, and reduce your worry throughout the entire process: from initial planning until returning home, we’ve got you covered!
