Budapest

Budapest, Hungary is a wonderful destination for the adventurous traveler, with it’s delightful mix of eastern and western Europe influences. This melding of cultures provides travelers a lovely experience regardless of their age. From it’s gorgeous architecture to it’s dramatic history, and friendly locals, this city truly has something for everyone.

Budapest is one of my very favorite european cities, and is a great city escape.

Much of the city has been granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status, and many visitors consider it to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Best of all, surprisingly its still a very good value. Hotels, food, and sightseeing tend to be 25%-40% less than neighboring western europe countries. There are plenty of wonderful activities for to keep you busy too. From exploring Castles, cruising on Riverboats, and swimming in thermal pools, the kids will have the best vacation ever!

Budapest is made up of 2 sides, “Buda” and “Pest”. The Buda side is easily identified by its beautiful Castle and hilly streets. Pest is more flat and great for bike riding! You will also find many local markets and great shopping here. You will want to plan a full day to visit the Buda side, taking the funicular up and exploring the Castle and charming side streets all around it. After you’ve walked your legs off, you will deserve a relaxing and refreshing dip in one of the famous Thermal pools in the city. Budapest is also filled with so many charming cafes and restaurants that will be hard to resist! Hungarian food appeals to both young and old, with its “comfort” noodle and potato dishes. Over the last few years, Budapest has turned into quite a “foodie” destination as well, with several top European restaurants located here.
